These groups of figures are a series to which I often return. Failed watercolor landscapes on Japanese paper (which abound) are reused to bring out the motifs. I have in mind the Biblical drawings and etchings of Rembrandt whose human drama, built up out of light and dark, are so expressive. In these small works I imagine human karma unfolding; a whole story could be written starting from the image.
