Letter 13: DEATH
"The "death" of which the father speaks in the parable of the prodigal son -- "my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found" (Luke xv, 24) -- is remoteness from the father and his house, whilst the death of the physical body means remoteness from the physical plane and the electrical field of terrestrial gravitation. Now, the refusal to take the way of purgatory and heaven amounts to refusing to return to the house of the Father, i.e. the decision to remain remote from the Father. And it is precisely this which is death in a divine sense." --VT
